Canton, located in Ohio's Stark County, started out as a business venture by Bezaleel Wells, a surveyor during the turn of the 19th century. Bezaleel took his plot of land and sold lots, which became the village of Canton in 1815. As the population grew, a schoolhouse erected, and roads to the west were built, Canton became a city.
Today, Canton is the center of many diversified industries and manufactures over 1600 different products. Canton is also known as the greatest steel-producing center in the world. It is also an important agricultural area, producing many nationally known brands of dairy and poultry.
